Design Associates

Tassajara maintains a close working relationship with independent artisans in a variety of complimentary disciplines. Several of these artisans share co-op shop space in our Carlsbad facility. We work collaboratively with these artisans to deliver a compete custom design for nearly any requirement.

Porter Glass Stained glass can add the perfect touch to any room or area. Few things can match the beauty of light playing off pieces of colored glass. Whether you are looking for a large focal point or a soft touch of class, it can be done with glass. Porter Glass shares co-op artisan space in our shop.

Karavodin Studios Art Director Elena Karavodin brings together a talented team of artists from the San Diego and Los Angeles Region. This diverse team of professionally trained artists has vast experience in creating custom art pieces for clients. Karavodin Studios' depth of artistic talent ensures there is an artistic style to meet your needs. Karavodin Studios shares co-op artisan space in our shop.

Plyboo™ Fast growing and long lived, timber bamboo grows to a height of 40 feet with a diameter exceeding 6 inches and matures in 4 years. Bamboo is a grass and from an environmental standpoint, this is important. Unlike traditional hardwoods, bamboo when harvested does not require replanting. Mature bamboo has an extensive root system that continues to send up new shoots for decades. Plyboo™ bamboo is grown in managed forests in China. Harvesting is done by hand, minimizing the impact on the local environment. By working with bamboo and understanding its growth patterns, bamboo farmers are able to maximize timber production while maintaining healthy forests.

Top Line Specialties is our right-next-door local supplier for finishing products, including Target Coatings, Tried & True natural oil and Mirka Abrasives.

Target Coatings has created a full line of waterborne shellacs lacquers, varnishes, urethanes, sanding sealers and grain fillers. Tried & True's line of natural polymerized linseed oils are environmentally friendly, non-toxic and safe to work with. And that's not to mention the incredible color, luster and depth of finish they impart on most woods. We use these products on our exotic woods all the time, and our customers can't stop talking about how the finish looks!

Located right next door to Tassajara Designs, Tropical Exotic Hardwoods is the ultimate source for fine exotic tropical lumber including Cocobolo, Amboyna Burl, Bocote Wood, Tasmanian Eucalyptus Burl, imported from all over the world. Mitch Talcove,"The King of Cocobolo", is the owner. And since we're right next door, we get first look at some of the most unique and beautiful exotics available anywhere.

Cut & Dried Hardwoods With nearly 100 hardwoods from five continents, Cut & Dried has the right piece to create an artistic jewelry box, a beautiful guitar, or a classic Shaker-style dresser.

Kirei Board is an engineered panel product constructed from the stalks of the Sorghum plant grown around the world for food. The stalks left over after harvest are heat-pressed with a non-toxic adhesive to form lightweight, strong, unique Kirei Board.

Lyptus Building with Lyptus® is a wise environmental choice.  Wood is produced using proprietary technology in a sustainable and environmentally responsible manner.  Eucalyptus is grown on very productive plantations, where stands of indigenous trees are interspersed to preserve natural habitat.  Wood can be harvested in just 14 to 16 years – much faster then other premium hardwoods grown in colder climates – ensuring reliable supplies throughout the foreseeable future.
