The design called for a contemporary piece, approximately 24" wide, 96" long and 15" tall - and made to appear as if hewn from two solid billets of Macassar Ebony. Macassar Ebony (Diospyros celebica) comes primarily from the East Indonesian islands of Celebes and Sulawesi.
